It shows that there is no escaping having to take at least a year of college chemistry along with Anatomy&Physiology to advance in this field.-The Top 200 Drug list. This text does have a companion Math text.-The chapters on the Physiology of pharmaceuticals.
The book covers the history of Pharmacy and the evolution of the profession.The book is divided into possible employee settings of Pharmacy Technicians. This is a thorough text of the Pharmacy Technician profession.
These were helpful to me with the PTCB test.What could be improved:-The math. Those would be Community/Retail/Ambulatory pharmacies, Hospital, Long Term Care, Hospice, and Insurance settings.There are the health science chapters as well.
The chapters for beginning technicians of course being the Sigs, Algebraic math with metrics, and the top 200 drugs.What I liked most:-Key Concepts and Self tests at the end of each chapter.-The Appendices at the end of the text. It gave a thumbnail sketch.
It's hard to keep current as it is changing.Reading this text along with a class given by a Pharmacist helped me to pass the State and National exams.
It's easy to read, and each chapter has review questions in a Self Test that help me spot areas I need to study more. I'm studying for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exambecause Texas requires this particular exam for me to be registered with the state board. I'm glad I'm using this book because it covers multiple topics that I didn't even realize might be needed in this field. Plenty of illustrations and a format that keeps pertinent information on the same page as the visuals make it a smooth reading experience. I've also purchased the companion workbook to reinforce what I'm learning before taking the exam.
Books arrived promptly, have not yet used, my class starts 5/20, I scanned the pages and everything looks intact. Thanks.
Good buy so far. I've only gotten through the first 55 pages but it seems like a great book. Good information and thorough without being overwhelming.
